Your profile
Two inputs decide the whole calendar: business type and annual turnover.
Above the §67א threshold, VAT reporting switches from bi-monthly to monthly.
The three VAT dates are not three obligations: the 15th for manual filing, the 19th for online filing, the 23rd for detailed filers. Pick the row that applies to you.
A deadline falling on Shabbat or a holiday is usually pushed to the next business day. Verify with the Tax Authority before relying on a borderline date.
These are the default deadlines for your business type and turnover. A deadline falling on Shabbat or a holiday is usually pushed to the next business day, and some businesses are assigned different dates or frequencies. Verify with the Tax Authority or an accountant before relying on a borderline date.
How it works
- •The frequency is derived, not chosen. A company always files monthly. An exempt dealer files a single annual declaration. An authorized dealer files bi-monthly, switching to monthly once turnover crosses the §67א threshold — which is updated every January.
- •Three VAT dates, not three obligations. The 15th for manual filing, the 19th for online filing, the 23rd for detailed filers. Pick the row that applies to you and ignore the other two.
- •Advances are not the final tax. They're payments on account, set as a percentage of turnover by the Tax Authority. The real reconciliation happens in the annual return, where you either get a refund or top up.
- •Being late costs money immediately. A late-filing penalty accrues per month of delay, and late payment adds linkage differentials and interest. This is the easiest money there is to save.
Frequently asked questions
When is the Israeli VAT return due?
The 15th of the month following the reporting period for manual filing, the 19th for online filing, and the 23rd for those required to file a detailed report. Most dealers now file online. A deadline falling on Shabbat or a holiday is usually pushed to the next business day.
Who files VAT monthly and who files bi-monthly?
A limited company always files monthly. An authorized dealer files bi-monthly by default and switches to monthly once annual turnover exceeds the threshold set in §67א of the VAT Law, which is updated each January. An exempt dealer doesn't file periodically at all — just an annual declaration of turnover.
What are income tax advances and when are they paid?
Advances are payments on account of the annual tax, calculated as a percentage of turnover set by the Tax Authority based on your last return. They're paid on the 15th of the following month, usually monthly or bi-monthly. Final reconciliation happens in the annual return.
What happens if I file late?
A penalty accrues for each month of delay, and late payment adds linkage differentials and interest. Repeated lateness can also lead the Tax Authority to disqualify your books. The penalties are automatic — nobody has to decide to impose them.
When is the annual return due?
The standard deadline for an individual's annual return is the end of April following the tax year, and online filers typically receive an extension. Representatives get further extensions under quotas agreed with the Tax Authority.
